Xenia Taniko
artist, performer, choreographer

Xenia Taniko (b.1989) is an artist, performer and choreographer based in Berlin. Taniko’s artistic practice spans performance, sound, magic practices, community building and participatory formats, exploring the potential of affect and emotion as motor for creating new forms of knowledge and embodiment. Their works and collaborations have been presented at Sophiensaele (DE), Uferstudios (DE), ada studio (DE), ausland (DE), Het Veem (NL), Fuchsbau Festival (DE), BAZAAR (CZ), P-Bodies Festival (DE), Art Week Luxembourg (LUX), erg Brussels (BE) and Judson Memorial Church (US), among others. Taniko was a member of fxtrouble collective (2013-2019) and is co-initiator of the collective framework ‘This is Not a Project’ (2021). As performer, co-author and assistant they collaborate internationally with artists such as Martin Hansen, Roni Katz, Jess Curtis, Josefine Mühle, Alice Peragine, Simone Aughterlony, Ania Nowak, Julia Gladstone, Hana Erdman, deufert&pliscke. They also work on audio descriptions of live performances for low vision and blind audiences and facilitate Online Community Yoga & Meditation Classes. Taniko studied politics and philosophy in Leipzig and Paris and is a graduate of HZT, University of the Arts Berlin (Dance, Context, Choreography, 2016). For 2020/21 they are a recipient of the Tanzpraxis stipend granted by the Berlin Senate Department of Culture.
