Ashley Holmes is an interdisciplinary artist, DJ and broadcaster based in Sheffield. His practice is centred around ongoing research into radical interdependence and sonic processes, to examine notions of storytelling, ownership and alternative forms of knowledge production. Ranging across sound, drawing, site-specific installations, performance, radio broadcasts and collaborative projects, his recent work has experimented with tempo, rhythm, multiplicity and spatial arrangement.
Ashley is a resident at No Bounds Festival / Hope Works 2023-24 and is a resident on Sheffield-based station Mondo Radio. He has hosted Tough Matter, a monthly show on NTS Radio since 2017 and also facilitates Open Deck, a series of gatherings giving space to collectively listen and hold discursive space around relationships to music, sound, memory and oral histories.
Recently he has shared work and performed at FACT Liverpool; Horst Music Festival, Brussels; Auto Italia South East, London; Montez Press Radio; Frieze Live, London; Leeds Art Gallery and more. He is a lecturer in Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University.
