Maria VMier
K2020 collaborator

In Maria VMier's work, the contraction of the most diverse strands of content and form plays an essential role, understanding artistic work as one that can not and does not want to be autonomous. The places where she is located and the people with whom she is in exchange with determine content and form of her work. She works parallely on drawings, research materials, her own texts, references and layers, which are often assembled in the formats of installations or artist's books—often on the border to applied arts.
In addition to her solo practice, Maria VMier is active in various collaborative/curatorial projects. Since 2013 she has been a publisher for artist books within Hammann von Mier Verlag (together with Stefanie Hammann) and since 2017 she has been running the project space Ruine München together with Leo Heinik and Jan Erbelding. Since 2019 she has also been a committee member of FLORIDA Lothringer 13, an artist-run space of the City of Munich. Maria VMier lives and works in Munich.
For K2020, Maria VMier together with Jan Erbelding is designing and opening the small bar “Zur Einsamkeit” in the cellar. As part of the bar situation there will be a deck of 54 “post-corona counseling cards” available which are used to very gently set the starting points for the conversations being held.
