Maria Margolina
Artist

Maria Margolina (*1998 in Dnipro) is a media artist, DJ and musician. In her artistic practice, she works primarily with a focus on sound, in addition to video, text, and objects. She explores the thematic complexes of memory and trauma from political, socio-cultural and autobiographical points of view. The works oscillate between collective, collaborative, participatory, performative and installative approaches. Since 2019, she has been studying sculpture/design in three-dimensional space at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in the class of Olaf Nicolai, but is currently in Brussels as part of an internship at "QO2". Since 2022 she is a scholarship holder of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).

From 2018 to 2021 she was a member of "DAF - Dynamic Acoustic Research", an open sound and performance collective. She has also been part of the Munich-based online radio "Radio 80000" since 2020 and active as a DJ under her pseudonym "Slovva".
