The text work I INHALE YOUR EXHAUST
on the driveway to the parking lot of the Haus der Kunst and in the courtyard of the Lothringer 13 Halle
is part of the project EXHAUSTER by Alice Peragine, which takes place in several parts from February 25 to
May 16, 2021 in the Lothringer 13 Halle and in the public space of Munich.

Alice Peragine examines the dynamics between toxic processes, consumption and vulnerability using the example of the automobile at a time in which the end of the combustion engine has long been established, but meanwhile an exhaustion of people and the environment in their current states is observed.

The text works I INHALE YOUR EXHAUST are activated with a performance by Alice Peragine produced by Haus der Kunst in cooperation with Lothringer 13 Halle. The video of the performance SOFT ROADER and an artist talk are presented by Haus der Kunst as part of their online program
Und draußen die Stadt on May 15, 2021.

The online program Und draußen die Stadt as part of the exhibitions by Kapwani Kiwanga and Phyllida Barlow
examines public space as a place of communal encounters and the dissolution of boundaries.

Soft Roader - A performance by Alice Peragine followed by an artist talk

I WANT TO BE YOUR INBETWEENNESS
YOUR RAW CRACK, BEARING WITNESS TO PAVEMENTS, MELTING TO MOLASSES
I INHALE YOUR EXHAUST

In Alice Peragine's work, breathing in the exhaustion of others becomes a metaphor for physical and material connectedness with the urban and technological environment. Her newly produced performance SOFT ROADER questions the interdependence of technologies and bodies using the example of the automobile. A camouflaged SUV moves slowly from the courtyard of the Lothringer 13 Halle to the parking lot of Haus der Kunst. Soft fleece is gently rolled out of the trunk onto the asphalt in a kind of breathing motion, becoming an act of caring in rough times. As the French group Télepopmusic phrased it already in their 2001 song "Breathe":

“I brought you something close to me […]
There’s nothing to do but believe
Just believe
Just breathe
Another day, just believe
Another day, just breathe […]
I’m used to it by now.”

We're all used to it by now. But how can we remain sanguine and assertive when appearing, exchanging and interacting are central to our own practice? In the permanent sounding out and renegotiation of constantly changing situations, institutional questions also come into view: How can art and an experience of art be made possible with closed doors? SOFT ROADER shifts, switches into another gear. We're used to it by now. Another day, just breathe.

This will be followed by a conversation with Alice Peragine and Lisa Paland, curatorial volunteers at the Haus der Kunst. The event is streamed freely accessible on hausderkunst.de. Registration is not required.

Alice Peragine's performance SOFT ROADER is being commissioned by Haus der Kunst and in cooperation with Lothringer 13 Halle.

The installation EXHAUSTER with video works by the artist can be viewed from the outside until May 16 in the lokal [vorne] at Lothringer Straße 13.
