From Language is a lecture by artist Wisrah C. V. da R. Celestino that delves into their practice with particular attention to the linguistics of the artist's works.
The invitation of Wisrah C. V. da R. Celestino is the starting point for a series of talks, workshops and discussions under the title "Das Politische der Kunst | The Political of Art". This series is a collaboration between Tanja Widmann and the Class for New Genres at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich with Franziska Sophie Wildförster.
Wisrah C. V. da R. Celestino (Brazil, 1989) lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Through score, sculpture, text, photography, sound, and video, the artist addresses the remaining structures of the transatlantic colonial project, focusing on institutional critique, language, and objecthood.
Their work has been shown in Germany and internationally, including exhibitions at Kunsthalle Bremen (Germany), Kunstverein Braunschweig (Germany), Kunstverein Kevin Space (Austria), Galerie Molitor (Germany), Kunsthal Nord (Denmark), Museu Nacional da República (Brazil), Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (Germany), Curitiba Biennial (Brazil), and Oscar Niemeyer Museum (Brazil).[nbsp] Amongst institutional collections and commissions are Kadist, France;[nbsp] Museu Nacional da República, Brazil; The One Minutes Foundation at Sandberg Instituut, Netherlands; Instituto Moreira Salles, Brazil; and Pampulha Art Museum, Brazil. Celestino's 2025 upcoming exhibitions include a solo exhibition at Between Bridges Foundation in Berlin and group shows at Haus der Kunst, Munich, and Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm.
Franziska Sophie Wildförster is a curator, art historian and doctoral candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She has been involved in numerous curatorial projects at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA21), MINI / Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residencies Ludlow 38 in New York and Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin. She has also realized exhibition projects at Galerie Deborah Schamoni, the Austrian Cultural Forum, Berlin and Galerie Schiefe Zähne, Berlin and has been a founding member and co-director of Kevin Space Vienna since 2016. She is the editor of numerous exhibition catalogs (published by Sternberg Press) and has published articles in magazines such as Frieze Magazine and Spike Art Magazine.
