Igor Grubić

Igor Grubić (Zagreb, Kroatien, 1969) ist seit den frühen 1990er-Jahren als Multimedia-Künstler aktiv. Sein Werk umfasst ortsspezifische Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum, Fotografie und Film. Er vertrat Kroatien auf der 58. Biennale von Venedig. Seine kritisch-sozialpolitisch engagierte Praxis zeichnet sich durch langfristiges Engagement aus und konzentriert sich auf vergangene und gegenwärtige politische Situationen – von der eingehenden Untersuchung des Schicksals historischer Denkmäler und des Niedergangs der Industrie bis hin zur Auseinandersetzung mit der Lage von Minderheitengemeinschaften. Obwohl in der dokumentarischen Tradition verwurzelt, ist Grubićs Arbeit in Fotografie und Film durch einen affektiven und empathischen Ansatz geprägt, der zutiefst menschlich und oft poetisch ist.
