Patrik Thomas

Patrik Thomas (geb. 1986, Bad Homburg) arbeitet an der Schnittstelle von Dokumentarfilm, Medienpädagogik, Stadtentwicklung und Theater. In seiner künstlerischen Forschung experimentiert er mit kollektiven Produktionsformen und gegenkulturellen Strategien, wobei er bewusst die Grenzen zwischen Dokumentation und Fiktion verwischt.

Er studierte an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München bei Prof. Klaus vom Bruch, Prof. Julian Rosefeldt und Prof. Olaf Nicolai sowie an Kunsthochschulen in Lissabon und São Paulo. Er war Meisterschüler bei Prof. Clemens von Wedemeyer an der HGB Leipzig und Gaststudent an der HFF München. Er lehrte und betreute an der Theaterakademie München sowie an der Hochschule München. Als Medienpädagoge arbeitet er in verschiedenen Kontexten mit Kindern, Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen, unter anderem an den Münchner Kammerspielen, bei Bellevue di Monaco und in der Lehrerausbildung im Bereich Film für den Freistaat Bayern.

2013 gründete er den kollaborativen Filmworkshop MOVIMENTO in Portugal als kreative Reaktion auf die Wirtschaftskrise. Seine Filme und Arbeiten wurden international gezeigt, unter anderem in São Paulo, Florenz, Taipeh, Montreal und Macau. 2020 erhielt er den FFF-Förderpreis für TAIWASTE, und sein Spielfilmdebüt BOALÂNDIA über kulturelle Widerstandsformen in Brasilien feierte 2024 seine Weltpremiere beim 48. MOSTRA – International Film Festival São Paulo.

CINÉ VÉLO CITÉ, ein mobiles Fahrradkino und Filmlabor, bringt Filmkunst und Medienpädagogik an Schulen, in Flüchtlingsunterkünfte und in urbane Räume. Das von EU und Bund geförderte Projekt kooperierte 2024 mit KinoASYL und ist seit 2025 mobiles Veranstaltungsformat des Dok.Fest München sowie Filmlabor des SPIELART Festivals. Gleichzeitig entwickelt er zusammen mit Christine Umpfenbach und Lena Gorelik das videobasierte Bühnenbild und die filmische Arbeit für den begleitenden Kurzfilm am Münchner Kammerspiele-Projekt ZEIT OHNE GEFÜHLE (Time Without Feelings).
